I use the bike on paved trails and streets where it is very good. The 24 speeds give me a lot of different gearing which I use and need. The brakes are also very good which is essential on street use.The lightweight is also great in many ways, can lift the bike easily and get up to speed quickly.

      Comments:

This is my first real bike, having ridden cheap ones off and on in the past. It was well worth the investment of a few more dollars! The seat is a little hard at first, but I've gotten used to it. It really moves on the paved trails around Northern Virginia, much more efficient than my wife's hybrid-comfort bike. I've taken it numerous times through DC and have had a blast riding! It's a little rough on gravel roads, though. I wouldn't spend too much time off the pavement with this one.

        Comments:

I am 53 years old and I use this great bike every day. I bought it and a Verve2 for my wife. She likes the front shocks. I love the smoothness and handling of the 7.2 and it really does have the power to flatten out the hills and makes it a joy to ride. It shifts gears so easily and the brakes are great also. I really can't say anything bad about this wonderful work of art. Our bikes are 2013 models and we have over 2000 miles on them in a year!! We both have lost over 40 lbs. each and aren't stopping. We love our TREKS and I've even gotten into watching the Trek Factory Racing teams at races around the world. Long live TREK and Bontrager!!

        Comments:

I told the salesperson that I wanted a bike that I could ride to work in the morning and then take out on a 15 mile fitness ride after work. This bike fits that to a tee. The only problem to date (I have had the bike for two months now)was on the very first day, the front shifter indicator broke. Not a real big deal, just the little red tab that lets you now which front sprocket you are on broke lose. Shifter works fine, but on the first day!!?

          Comments:

I was sitting on the fence for a few months about buying a bike in general. I was a runner( a few half marathons a year), but it was becoming more difficult for me to keep up that pace. During the hot humid mid Atlantic summers, running would completely drain me. Not to mention the toll I was beginning to feel in my legs. Realizing I wasn't exercising much at all, I decided to give biking a try. I did quite of bit of research into the style of bike I wanted and went to a bike shop to try out the 7.2 FX. I didn't want to spend to much on my first bike just in case I didn't care for biking. I even considered getting a bike from a department store. After trying one, I realized it was worth the few extra dollars to get something nice. I have not been disappointed. In less than 3 weeks I have already ridden over 200 miles and have enjoyed it. I do not feel drained after exercising and am actually refreshed. I would ride more if I had the time. I look forward to my rides and am motivated to exercise again. For someone looking for an alternative to running. I would strongly recommend getting this bike. The only draw back is the seat was uncomfortable at first. But the more I ride and aftere a few minor adjustments it has become less of an issue.

To and from work and i now understand the difference between a mountain bike and a hybrid my average speed on the road has doubled you just fly along. I had all the components to upgrade to 9 speed on the rear and really was worth it as there is not such a big jump between gears when you want it just that little easier or little bit harder. I also added bar ends that have made it even more comfortable. Love this bike but still prefer to hammer through the bush on my trek 4500 MTB

                Comments:

I really like this bike. It is my first bike in years, but I am quite impressed. It is fairly light weight and has a smooth ride. I know it can be changed, but the grips are a bit too gel like for my taste. My initial test drive didn't realize it, but they become slick and somewhat uncomfortable on longer rides. The gears and overall mechanical feel of the bike are amazing. I went with the 7.2 over the 7.1 for the more modern and light design.
